New telephone service in CentraCom Cable TV areas
CentraCom Interactive launched a new telephone service in Santaquin, Utah, in May 2009. For over 100 years CentraCom has been providing traditional land line telephone service to rural Utah. Now, as new technology is being developed, digital phone service is available. Digital phone service uses CentraCom’s existing network, developed for high-speed Internet service, to carry the new phone service. Now customers in the Qwest Communications International Inc. telephone areas may port their current phone numbers to CentraCom Digital Voice service. This means that these customers may keep their existing number but use the new digital voice service.
Due to CentraCom’s storied history of providing reliable phone service, CentraCom Digital Voice is a natural fit. “Offering telephone service to our cable modem Internet areas just makes sense”, stated George Lee, CentraCom Cable TV manager. And Santaquin is just the beginning. Last year, the Public Service Commission of Utah issued CentraCom Interactive CLEC status (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier). This status gives CentraCom the ability to enter new markets with digital phone service. “Our plan is to rollout digital phone service to all of our cable modem Internet service areas where Qwest® is the incumbent telephone provider”, said Kevin Arthur, CentraCom Network Operations Manager. This new service will give CentraCom customers the option of bundling digital voice service with other CentraCom services for savings up to $25/month.
Now CentraCom is upgrading the network in Sevier County. Beginning June 1, 2009, CentraCom Digital Voice will be available in Redmond and Aurora, Utah. There are plans to rollout this service on a continuing basis as quickly as possible. In addition to new digital voice service, the recent upgrades to the network will make it possible for CentraCom to offer increased Internet speeds and more HD television channels throughout all CentraCom service areas.

Federal DTV changes does not affect CentraCom Cable TV.
On June 12, 2009, analog television broadcasts will cease and many TV sets will no longer be able to receive over-the-air signals. That date will mark the completion of a transition to digital TV, or DTV, mandated by Congress.
DTV is an advanced technology that allows broadcasters to provide higher quality pictures and sound, as well as advanced services such as transmission of multiple video streams or other data over a single channel. DTV also makes more efficient use of the airwaves. The Federal Communications Commission will make the airwaves that are freed up by this transition available for advanced communication services for commercial and public safety use.
The transition to DTV is underway now, but if you are a CentraCom Cable TV customer, there is nothing for you to do except to enjoy your favorite programming after the switch to DTV. CentraCom will take care of the transition for you. If you have an older TV, it will still work with CentraCom Cable TV without the need of a converter box.
